Connect Women in Pensions is a not-for-profit group open to all who support our aim of improving opportunities for women in the Financial Services (Pensions, Investments and General Insurance) and related industries (Legal, Compliance, Marketing, etc.), as well as encouraging pension saving by women. We want women to sparkle in their careers and in to retirement.

Our vision is to provide support, encouragement and information to help women to invest in their personal and professional growth. We provide a platform for discussion, for sharing ideas, understanding different perspectives and influencing business practices. The group is also a forum to meet, network and share experiences with interesting and inspirational people that members may not come across in their day-to-day work.

The network was originally co-founded by Emer Kirk, Associate Director at Harvest Financial Services, after she identified the need for a network like Connect Women in Pensions. With the help of a number of volunteers from within the industry, what was once just an idea was successfully converted into an expanding network and platform for women. Emer Kirk successfully chaired the committee for a number of years and continues to sit on the networks committee.

Emma Doolin, a Manager with Ernst & young Private Client Services, currently chairs the committee. Emma leads an enthusiastic committee of volunteers: Aoibheann Treacy, Head of Retail Investment Development, Irish Life Investment Managers and preceding Chairperson of the committee , Suzanne Cashin, Head of Retirement Asset Services at Tilman Dolphin Brewin, Elma Fox, Trustee Manager at Independent Trustee Ltd; and Kristen Foran, National Sales Director, Zurich Life Assurance plc; IAPF; Kimberley Kennedy,  Manager, Operational Risk,  Canada Life Assurance Europe plc; Grace Canavan, Head of Intermediary Business Development, Schroders, Rachel Greene, Business Development Manager, Aviva Investors, Helen Carroll, Senior Associate, State Street Global Advisors and Deirdre Healy, Financial Planner, Goodbody Stockbrokers .

We post details of our events and host discussions on matters of professional interest on social media network LinkedIn as well as on Facebook and Linkedin. Find out more by following the links below.

Emer Kirk, chair Connect Women in Pensions

"I find the Connect Women in Pensions events offer a more relaxed and comfortable forum for making contacts than the average networking affair.  Among attendees there will usually be an interesting cross sampling of roles in the pensions industry for example: financial advisors, bankers, lawyers, actuaries and administrative staff.  This allows me to meet women with experience outside my own profession which I may not otherwise encounter. In short Connect Women in Pensions events are a welcome opportunity to meet women in the industry, to listen to interesting and non technical speakers with usually some delicious food and wine served to make for a most enjoyable evening".

Ciara McLoughlin, Associate, William Fry
